UNC Claims The Second Seed In ACC Softball Championship

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The bracket for the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Championship is set and the North Carolina Tar Heels have claimed the second seed. The three-day event begins on Thursday, March 7 and concludes on Saturday, May 9, and will be hosted by Virginia Tech, with all games being played at Tech Softball Park in Blacksburg.
The top eight teams based on win percentage in ACC games from regular season play will participate in the Championship.
Carolina clinched the second seed last week by coming back to win the first game of the doubleheader against Notre Dame 7-3 in extra-innings.
UNC (35-13, 16-5) will face seventh seeded Virginia Tech (33-20, 8-12) on Thursday, May 7 at 5 p.m. The Tar Heels bested the Hokies in their early March encounter, taking both games of the doubleheader by scores of 6-1 and 9-5.
Florida State (41-12, 20-3) grabbed the Championship's top seed and will play Boston College (27-22, 6-14) in the first game of the Championship on Thursday at 11 a.m.
Third-seeded Notre Dame (40-12, 17-6) will square off against sixth-seeded Pitt (33-18, 10-11) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, as both teams will compete in their second ACC Championship.
Fourth-seeded Louisville (28-16, 15-7), participating in its first ACC Championship as a member of the conference, will battle fifth-seeded NC State (34-19, 13-8) at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
