UPDATE: Friday's opener was postponed due to rain. The series will begin with a doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m.
NOTRE DAME, Ind. --- North Carolina leaves Boshamer Stadium for the final time in the regular season when the Tar Heels visit Notre Dame for a three-game series starting with a doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m. at Frank Eck Stadium. Carolina has won eight of its last nine after midweek wins over UNC Asheville and Elon, and the Tar Heels stand at 31-16 and 13-10 in league play. Notre Dame dropped two of three to Northwestern State over the weekend to fall to 30-18 overall, and the Irish are 12-12 in the ACC.

CAROLINA-NOTRE DAME SERIES HISTORY
• North Carolina is 2-1 all-time against Notre Dame, including a 1-1 record under head coach Mike Fox.
• This weekend will be the first UNC-Notre Dame series since the Irish joined the ACC in 2013-14.
• The Tar Heels and Irish split a pair of games at the 2005 NCAA Gainesville Regional. Carolina won the opening-round game 5-1 before Notre Dame triumphed in an elimination game, 3-0.
• The only other game in the series came in 1956. UNC won a 14-4 contest in Tallahassee, Florida.
