UNC-Virginia Tech Postgame Notes
• The win over Virginia Tech was Roy Williams' 350th win at Carolina. He is the only coach ever to win 350 NCAA Division 1 games at two different schools (he had 418 at Kansas).
• Williams with 350 wins at Carolina, now just four behind Bobby Cremins for fourth place in ACC history.
• Brice Johnson had 19 points, 17 rebounds, three blocks and three steals. It was his 11th double-double this season and his third career game with at least 17 rebounds.
• Roy Williams now 67-35 in ACC road games. His percentage of .657 is second best in ACC history trailing only Duke's Vic Bubas (.667).
• UNC was 3 for 23 (.130) from three-point range, its lowest percentage for at least 20 attempts in the Roy Williams era. Previous low was .174 (4/23) vs Iowa in L.
• The Tar Heels shot a season-low 37.8 percent from floor. It was the second time in three games UNC won despite shooting a season-low percentage.
• It was the first time Carolina has won 3 straight games shooting under 40 percent since 2010-11 when UNC beat Clemson, Wake Forest & Boston College
• The Tar Heels committed seven turnovers, their fewest in an ACC game this year. UNC outscored the Hokies, 19-8, in points off turnovers.
• Marcus Paige did not connect on a three (first time ever for three straight games) but had a game-high 7 assists and hit two key free throws in the closing seconds.
• Tar Heels had 11 steals in the win over the Hokies. That's 26 steals in the last two wins, including three each in Blacksburg by Johnson, Paige and Berry.
