Heels And Orange Play To Scoreless 2OT Draw

The draw was the first for both clubs in 2016. North Carolina (7-1-1, 3-0-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) remains in first place in the Coastal Division with 10 points. Meanwhile, Syracuse is now 8-1-1, 2-1-1 in the Atlantic Division.
Carolina is unbeaten in four all-time matches with the Orange, enjoying a 2-0-2 mark. Each of the last two matches have ended in draws, while the Tar Heels picked up a pair of 1-goal wins in the first two games.
The last scoreless draw for UNC came at Virginia last Oct. 30, 2015 in Charlottesville.
Tonight, Syracuse held a 13-6 shot advantage and a 7-4 margin in favor of the Orange in corner kicks.
Tar Heel keeper James Pyle made five saves for his sixth shutout of the season.
Carolina hosts nationally-ranked UNCW at 7 p.m on Cancer Awareness Night. The first 500 fans wearing pink receives a free Carolina men's soccer t-shirt, while 250 will also receive pink pom-poms. Additionally, 250 students will get free UNC rally towels.
UNC is also collecting food for the Harris Teeter Million Meals Challenge. A $5 Harris Teeter gift card will be given to anyone who brings two cans to donate, with a maximum of $10 awarded to each person who brings four or more cans.
