Tar Heels Welcome Vols to the Smith Center
• Carolina plays host to the University of
Tennessee on Sunday, December 11 at 5 p.m.
• The Tar Heels are 8-1 against the Volunteers, although the schools from neighboring states have only played three times in the last 69 years (all in the last 18 seasons).
• Roy Williams is 2-0 against Tennessee. Both games were as UNC's head coach.
• Carolina never played Tennessee during Dean Smith's 36-year tenure as UNC's head coach.
• UNC has won the last three meetings, all at neutral sites: 3/24/2000 in Austin, Texas, in the NCAA South Regional Sweet 16; 11/23/2004 in Maui; and 11/24/2006 in Madison Square Garden in the PreSeason NIT.
• Carolina won the most recent game, 101-87, on 11/24/2006 in the PreSeason NIT consolation game in New York. Tyler Hansbrough (27 points, nine rebounds, six assists), Brentwood, Tenn., native Brandan Wright (19 points, eight rebounds), Wayne Ellington and Ty Lawson (14 points apiece) led the Tar Heels. Carolina shot 57.4 percent from the floor and out-rebounded the Vols, 50-30.
• The teams have played two previous games in Chapel Hill: 2/21/1911 in Bynum Gym and 1/5/1948 in Woollen Gym. The teams also played once in Raleigh in the 1932 Southern Conference Tournament.
Jackson, Maye Lead UNC Past Davidson
• Justin Jackson tied his career high with 27 points and Luke Maye led a 17-point turnaround in the first half to lead UNC to an 83-74 win over Davidson on 12/7 at the Smith Center.
• Jackson set a career high with seven three-point field goals made. He previously made four three-pointers three other times and also scored 27 in the season opener at Tulane.
• The seven 3FGs were the most by a Tar Heel since Marcus Paige made seven in an overtime win at NC State on 2/26/14.

• Jackson tied his career high with nine field goals made and attempted a career-high 19 shots from the floor and 13 three-pointers.
• Jackson's 13 three-point attempts equal the second-most in any game by a Tar Heel in Roy Williams' 14 seasons as head coach.
• Jackson's previous high for field goal attempts was 16 at Duke last year and his previous high for three-point attempts was seven on three occasions.
• Jackson also had a game-high eight rebounds.
• Sophomore Luke Maye had career-highs in points (10) and steals (3) and tied his career best with six rebounds. He scored all 10 points and grabbed all six boards in the opening half.
• Davidson led 10-3 with 15:44 to play in the first half, but Maye, senior Stilman White, and freshmen Tony Bradley, Brandon Robinson and Seventh Woods sparked the Tar Heels on an 8-0 run for UNC's first lead of the game.
• Carolina out-scored the Wildcats, 39-22 over the final 14:27 of the first half.
• The Tar Heels built a 16-point lead that got cut to 76-73 with 1:55 to play.
• Carolina shot a season-low 37.7 percent from the floor for the game (previous .393 at Indiana). This was the first time UNC shot under 40 percent from the floor in both halves in a win since 1/2/416 at Virginia Tech.
• It was just the 29th time in 79 games under Roy Williams that UNC shot under 40 percent and won the game.
• Carolina made a season-high 10 three-point field goals (previous nine vs. Tulane and Radford).
• Carolina made a season-high 27 free throws (previous 25 vs. Oklahoma State).
• Carolina made 23 field goals and 27 free throws. It was the first time the Tar Heels made more FTs than FGs since the loss at Louisville on 2/1/16.
• White was 6 for 6 from the free throw line and scored a career-high six points.
• Nate Britt missed all eight of his shots from the floor, but had a season-high six assists.
• Joel Berry II did not play due to a sprained left ankle.

• Carolina's win over Davidson was the 190th win in the Smith Center over a non-ACC opponent in 207 games.
• The Tar Heels are 190-17 in the Smith Center against non-conference foes.

• The Davidson game was UNC's 450th in the Smith Center, where the Tar Heels have a 382-68 record.
• The win over the Wildcats was also the 950th home win in Carolina Basketball

• The Tar Heels are 9-1. This is the fifth time in 14 years under Roy Williams the Tar Heels have at least a 9-1 record in the first 10 games.
• UNC has been 11-0 or 10-1 under Williams in 2004-05, 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09.
• The Tar Heels are shooting 43.3 percent from the floor over the last three games.
• The opponents are shooting 37.6 percent from the floor for the year. Carolina has not held the opponents to a lower field goal percentage over a season since the 1959-60 season when the opponents converted 37.5 percent of its field goal attempts.
• Carolina is fifth in the nation in scoring margin, ninth in points per game and 14th in assists.
