Tar Heels To Host Northern Iowa In First Of Final Two Non-ACC Games
• Carolina returns to the Smith Center for the first of two final non-conference games when it hosts Northern Iowa on Wednesday, December 21st.
• Tip time is 8 p.m. on ESPN2.
• The Tar Heels are 10-2 coming off a 103-100 loss to Kentucky in Las Vegas. Northern Iowa is 5-5 coming off a 69-46 loss to Iowa in Des Moines.
• This is Carolina's final game before Christmas. The Tar Heels then conclude their non-ACC portion of the schedule on 12/28 at home against Monmouth.
• Carolina opens ACC play on 12/31 at Georgia Tech.
• The Tar Heels are ranked No. 8 in the country in the AP and USA Today/Coaches polls.
Carolina-Northern Iowa Series
• Carolina is 0-1 against the Panthers.
• Northern Iowa beat the Tar Heels, 71-67, on 11/21/15 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
• Wes Washpun had 21 points and eight assists and Matt Bohannon scored 19 to lead the Panthers.
• Carolina led by 16 points (50-34) early in the second half before the Panthers rallied for a 29-8 run behind six of their 11 three-pointers.
• The Panthers did not commit a second-half turnover.
• Justin Jackson led the Tar Heels with 25 points. Brice Johnson and Kennedy Meeks both added 10 points.
• UNC senior guard Marcus Paige did not play due to injury. Tar Heel guards combined to score just 11 points in his absence.
UNC & Kentucky Play a Classic
• Freshmen guards Malik Monk (47) and De'Aaron Fox (24 points, 10 assists) combined for 71 points to lead Kentucky to a 103-100 win over UNC on 12/17 in Las Vegas in the CBS Sports Classic.
• UNC is 2-1 in the CBS Sports Classic with wins over Ohio State in 2014-15 and UCLA in 2015-16.
• It was the second time in UNC history and the first time in a regulation-length game UNC lost a game when it scored 100 points.
• Carolina lost 119-114 in triple overtime to Wake Forest on 12/20/2003 (Roy Williams' first ACC game as head coach).
• Carolina had won 51 straight games when scoring 100 points. UNC is now 52-2 under Roy Williams when scoring 100 points.
• UNC had also won 27 straight when scoring 80 points and 15 in a row when scoring 90.
• It was just the fourth loss in 123 games under Roy Williams when UNC scored 90 points and the 29th loss in 175 games when it scored 80 or more points.
• UK is the first team to score 100 since Texas beat UNC, 103-90, in the Dallas Cowboys Stadium on 12/19/2009.
• This is the 10th game in UNC history both teams scored 100 or more points and just the fourth in a 40-minute game.

• Carolina shot 53.0 percent from the floor. This is the first time this year and only the fourth time in 184 games that UNC shot 50 percent from the floor under head coach Roy Williams and lost.
• UNC had won 21 straight times when shooting 50 percent from the floor.
• This was the third time this year UNC shot 50 percent from the floor in both halves, but the first time it did that and lost (also both halves vs. Chaminade and Oklahoma State).
• Carolina was out-rebounded for the first time this year (UK 39, UNC 35).
• Tar Heel junior forward Justin Jackson scored a career-high 34 points (previous was 27 twice). Jackson was 10 for 17 from the floor (previous high was nine field goals), 4 for 7 from three and 10 for 15 from the line.

• Jackson's 10 free throws were a career-high (previous 7 vs. Oklahoma State).
• It was UNC's first 30-point game since Brice Johnson (39) and Marcus Paige (30) against Florida State on 1/4/16.

• Joel Berry had 23 points and seven assists in 34 minutes in his first action in three games. It was his eighth career 20-point game and fifth in 10 games this year.

• Sophomore forward Luke Maye set a career high with 11 points, scoring all 11 in the second half. Maye made two three-pointers for the first time and played a career-high 21 minutes.

• Maye has set a career scoring high in two of the last three games. He had 10 points (all in the first half) vs. Davidson.
• Kenny Williams matched his career high with five assists (also vs. Chattanooga).
• Tony Bradley shot a season-best 6 for 6 from the free throw line.
• Kentucky's Malik Monk scored 47 points, which ties the second most against UNC in history and is the most since Rich Yunkus (Georgia Tech) scored 47 on 2/14/1970 in Charlotte (Dick Groat scored 48 at Duke on 2/29/1952).
• The 47 points are the most against a Roy Williams-coached UNC team (previous was 46 by Tyrese Rice at Boston College on 3/1/2008).
• Monk's 47 points are the most ever by a freshman in a UNC game (for or against).
• The 18 field goals by Monk are the most against a Roy Williams-coached UNC team (previous 14 by Rice at BC).
• Monk's eight three-pointers were the most by an opponent since Deividas Dulkys of Florida State made eight in Tallahassee on 1/14/12.
• UK freshman De'Aaron Fox had 24 points and 10 assists, the first points-assists double-double vs. UNC since Pitt's Cameron Wright on 2/14/15.
• Kentucky shot 54.1 percent from the floor, highest vs. UNC this year.
• It was the first time UNC lost when shooting 50 percent from the floor since 12/12/15 at Texas.

Scoring/Shooting
• The Tar Heels are shooting 48.8 percent from the floor over the first 12 games, UNC's highest field goal percentage in a season since shooting .488 in 2007-08.
• Even with Kentucky's season-high 54.1 percent effort from the floor Carolina is holding the opponents to 40.3 percent shooting over the first 12 games.
• Carolina is 10th in the nation in scoring margin, 10th in points per game and 14th in assists.
• Carolina is seventh nationally in offensive efficiency and 15th in defensive efficiency (KenPom's version of points per 100 possessions). UNC is one of eight teams ranked in the top 15 in both offense and defense.
• Carolina shot 53.0 percent from the floor and scored 100 points against Kentucky with Joel Berry II back in the lineup after he missed two games with a sprained ankle. In the two home games Berry sat out (Davidson and Tennessee) UNC shot 38.8 percent from the floor and averaged 78.0 points.
• Justin Jackson is the first Tar Heel to score 27 or more points three times in the first 12 games since Tyler Hansbrough did it four times in the first dozen games in 2007-08.
• Three different perimeter players have led UNC in scoring in 10 of the 12 games (Joel Berry II and Justin Jackson four times apiece and Kenny Williams twice.)
• Forward Isaiah Hicks led UNC in scoring twice (consecutive games against Hawai'i and Chaminade).
• Justin Jackson leads the team with 10 double-figure scoring games. Isaiah Hicks and Kennedy Meeks are second with nine apiece.
• Four Tar Heels have scored 20 or more points in a game this year. Joel Berry II and Justin Jackson have done it five times apiece, and Isaiah Hicks and Kennedy Meeks each reached that mark once.
Rebounding
• Carolina is fourth in the country in rebound margin (13.3 per game), seventh in total rebounds per game (44.7) and 10th in offensive rebounding (15.6 per game).
• Carolina has 187 offensive rebounds, while the opponents have 251 defensive rebounds. The Tar Heels are getting 43 percent of their own missed shots. On the defensive end of the floor, UNC is grabbing 73 percent of the missed shots.
• Carolina is second in the country in offensive rebound percentage behind only Rutgers. UNC is one of eight teams with an offensive rebounding percentage of at least .400.
• Freshman Tony Bradley leads UNC with 43 offensive rebounds and leads in the nation in offensive rebounding percentage. Kennedy Meeks is second with 42 offensive boards and is 18th in offensive rebounding percentage.
• Bradley has seven or more offensive rebounds in three of his first 12 college games (eight at Hawai'i, seven vs. Chattanooga and seven vs. Tennessee).
• Brice Johnson had three games in his career (all as a senior) with seven or more offensive rebounds. Bradley's and Johnson's three-such games are the most since James Michael McAdoo had four over three seasons from 2011-14.
• Senior forward Isaiah Hicks and sophomore guard Kenny Williams are tied for third with 19 offensive rebounds.
• Carolina averages 9.7 more second-chance points per game, 8.6 more points off turnovers and 15.8 more points in the paint than the opponents.
• The Tar Heels have scored 20 or more second-chance points in five games this year: 28 at Hawai'i, 26 vs. Chaminade, 25 vs. Tennessee, 21 vs. Chattanooga and 21 vs. Oklahoma State. The opponents have 10 or more second-chance points four times, including 18 by Oklahoma State and 17 by Long Beach.
• Justin Jackson has led UNC in rebounding four times, something he did twice in 78 games over his first two seasons.

• Jackson has 26 three-pointers in 12 games. He made his 22nd 3FG in his 38th game as a freshman and his 32nd game as a sophomore.
• Justin Jackson has made four or more three-pointers four times this season. Prior to this season, he made four in a game once (vs. Virginia in the 2015 ACC Tournament).
