CAROLINA NOTES
• The Tar Heels are now 21-4 overall, 10-2 in the ACC and 13-0 at the Dean E. Smith Center this season.
• Carolina returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at home vs. Duke. Tipoff is a little after 9 p.m.
• Carolina has won 10 ACC games for the 40th time in school history (in 63 seasons) and the 11th time in 13 years under head coach Roy Williams.
• The Tar Heels shot 59.3 percent from the floor, its highest this season. Previous high was .554 vs UNCG; previous high this year in an ACC game was .537 in the home win over Boston College.
• Carolina shot 55.6 percent from the floor in the first half and 63.0 percent in the second half. The second was the best in a half since UNC shot .643 in the second half at Syracuse.
• Today marked the second game in a row and 16th time this year UNC has shot 50 percent or better from the floor for a game. UNC is 15-1 this year when shooting at least 50 percent.
• Today was the seventh time this season and the third time in ACC play (Clemson, home vs. BC and Pitt) that UNC shot 50 percent or better from the floor in both halves.
• Carolina held Pitt to 37.3 percent from the floor for the game. The Panthers shot .353 in the first half and .394 in the second. That's the first time in ACC play and the second time this season (Fairfield on 11/15/15) UNC held an opponent below 40 percent in both halves.
• Carolina had 16 fast break points, which is five more than UNC had combined at Louisville), at Notre Dame (three) and at Boston College (two).
• Carolina grabbed one offensive rebound (shot a season-high percentage from the floor and second-highest percentage from the free throw line), the fewest in any game in the Roy Williams era at UNC. The previous was four on 12/12/15 at Texas.
• UNC had two second-chance points (previous low this year was six in a loss at Northern Iowa).
• The Tar Heels had 26 assists on 32 field goals. That's UNC's most in any ACC game this year (previous was 24 at Syracuse). UNC had assists on 81.3 percent of its field goals, its second-highest percentage of baskets on assists this year (.833, 30 on 36 vs. Tulane).
• Carolina scored 85 points, the 18th time this year UNC has scored 80 or more (17-1 in those games).
• UNC led by 13 at the half, its largest halftime lead since a 16-point margin vs. Wake Forest on 1/20/16.
• The Panthers out-rebounded the Tar Heels, 41-29. That's the largest margin UNC has been out-rebounded by this year (previous was nine in a loss at Texas.
• This was just the second time in 16 game Pitt has lost when it out-rebounded its opponents this season (also in a loss to Miami).
• Roy Williams is now 771-206 as a head coach, 353-105 at Carolina, 151-59 in ACC regular-season play, 383-43 at home, 181-26 at the Smith Center and 3-2 vs. Pitt.
PLAYER NOTES
• Brice Johnson led five Tar Heels in double figure scoring with 19 points. This was the 10th time this season Johnson has led UNC in scoring. He passed Shammond Williams for 32nd in UNC career scoring with 1,448 points.
• Johnson leads the ACC in field goal percentage at .614. He was 9 for 12 from the floor vs. Pitt.
• Marcus Paige had 15 points, three assists and two steals. He was 3 for 6 from three-point range. Paige is 15 for 34 from three-point range (44.1 percent) over the last five games.
• Paige has a school-record 265 three-point field goals and has attempted 702 career these, also a UNC record.
• Paige has tied Joel Berry for the team lead in three-pointers with 40, the first time this year Paige has led or shared the team lead in three-pointers.
• Justin Jackson had 14 points, six assists and two blocks. He was 6 for 10 from the floor (22 for 37, .595, in the last four games) including 2 for 3 from three-point range.
• Jackson made multiple three-pointers in consecutive games for the first time this season (also 2 for 3 at BC).
• Jackson had six assists, the fourth time this year he handed out five or more assists. His assist/error is now 78 to 28.
• Theo Pinson did not score, but had six assists in 15 minutes. Today was the seventh game this season he led outright or shared the team lead in assists.
• Pinson has 22 assists in the last five games.
• Joel Berry had 13 points, six rebounds, three steals, two blocked shots and two assists. He leads the team with 41 steals, including 19 in the last nine games.
• Isaiah Hicks had 10 points, his 13th time in double figures this year and the 20th time in his career.
