Several Tar Heels Win At Kent Taylor Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina track and field teams hosted the Kent Taylor Invitational on Sunday in hopes of tuning up before the ACC Championship meet next week.
Sarah Howard earned a first-place finish after posting a season-best throw in the women's shot put. Howard threw 55-1 ½ (16.80 meters) and ranks No. 13 in the NCAA this year.
Emily Godwin took first in the women's long jump at 19-0 (5.79 meters). Godwin will compete in the women's pentathlon at the ACC Championships.
Another multi athlete, Paul Haley, cleared 14-7 ¼ (4.45 meters) in the men's pole vault to take first overall. Haley will try to defend his ACC title in the men's heptathlon next week.
Natisha Dixon and Tory Kemp finished fifth and eighth respectively in the women's 60-meter hurdles. Dixon posted a time of 8.46, while Kemp, a multi, posted 8.69.
UP NEXT
The Tar Heels will compete at the ACC Track and Field Indoor Championships starting on February 25. The meet will be held in Boston, Mass. Both teams finished fourth at the conference meet last year.
