Tar Heel Men Third, Bozentka Leads Women's Individual

In sabre, sophomore Meredith Bozentka's fifth-place finish was UNC's top placement of the day and another sophomore, Noa Allen, placed ninth. In foil, Tar Heel junior Amanda Lalezarian took sixth and freshman Sydney Persing was seventh to give UNC two more top-10 finishes.
Four Tar Heels competed in each event. After Lalezarian and Persing in foil, freshman Alicia Chen placed 11th and junior Gabrielle D'Astoli was 12th.
In sabre, junior Sarah Hanvy was 11th and sophomore Caitlin Gallant was 15th.
In women's epee, freshman Erin O'Neill was the Tar Heels' top finisher, taking 11th. Sophomore Sara Moreno was right behind her in 12th, sophomore Samantha Galina in 13th and freshman Beni Mathieu 15th.
Notre Dame took top honors in foil and epee, and Duke's Jennifer Ling was first in sabre.
The Tar Heel men's team went 1-2 in the round robin competition, which host Notre Dame won with a 3-0 record. Duke placed second at 2-1. Boston College was fourth at 0-3. UNC fell 19-8 to Notre Dame and 21-6 to Duke and beat Boston College 18-9.
