No. 11 Carolina Welcomes Virginia Tech For Three

CHAPEL HILL --- No. 11 North Carolina wraps a five-game homestand this weekend against Virginia Tech starting Friday at 7 p.m. at Boshamer Stadium. Carolina is 21-8 and 6-6 in league play after splitting a pair of midweek games with High Point and UNC Asheville. Virginia Tech is in the midst of a 15-game losing streak that has seen the Hokies fall to 10-20 and 1-11 in the ACC. VT won its first conference game of the season over Miami but has lost 11 straight, dropping sweeps at the hands of Georgia Tech, Notre Dame and Louisville. All three games this weekend will be broadcast on ESPN3.

NORTH CAROLINA-VIRGINIA TECH SERIES HISTORY
• North Carolina is 67-24-2 all-time against Virginia Tech, including a 28-2 record under head coach Mike Fox.
• Carolina has dominated the series since Virginia Tech joined the ACC in 2004-05. The Tar Heels are 27-2 against the Hokies since 2005 and have nine of 10 league series between the two schools.
• UNC and Virginia Tech split a pair of games last season in Blacksburg. The Hokies snapped a 22-game losing streak in the series with an 8-3 win before Carolina took game two 11-10. The series finale was canceled due to rain.
• Carolina scored a three-game sweep in Chapel Hill in 2014, winning a trio of close games. The Tar Heels scored the game-winning run in the eighth in a 3-2 Friday victory and got a game-ending sac fly from Tyler Ramirez to take Sunday's game 5-4.
• Virginia Tech will have a familiar face in its dugout this weekend. Former Tar Heel standout Robert Woodard is in his third season as the Hokies' pitching coach after spending one year at UNCW. Woodard, who also spent two-plus seasons as a volunteer assistant at Carolina, is the winningest pitcher in program history with a career record of 34-5.
