Day One Done At Spec Towns Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of North Carolina track and field programs competed at the Spec Towns Invitational on Friday. The Tar Heels face strong competition against primarily ACC and SEC schools.
AJ Hicks threw 201-10 (61.52 meters) in the hammer and finished in fourth. Hicks also placed sixth in the men's discus throwing 164-6 (50.15 meters).
Joey Souza jumped over 24 feet for the second meet in a row. Souza jumped 24-0 ¾ (7.33 meters) to finish fourth in the long jump. Zay Paschall finished seventh.
Austin Vegas cleared 16-2 ¼ (4.96 meters) in the pole vault to take fifth place.
Natisha Dixon posted a PR of 13.71 in the 100-meter hurdles to take eighth overall.
Alexis Gannon jumped 19-0 ½ (5.80 meters) in the long jump to take seventh.
Avana Story finished seventh in the women's hammer.
