Tar Heels To Face Boston College In ACC Quarterfinal

RALEIGH – Following a weekend sweep of Georgia Tech, Carolina softball captured the #5-seed for the 2016 ACC Softball Championship and will face #4-seed Boston College in the second ACC Quarterfinal on at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 12. The 25th annual ACC Softball Championship will be hosted by NC State at Dail Softball Stadium in Raleigh on May 12-14. All games on Thursday and Friday will be broadcast by the league's Regional Sports Networks, while Saturday's title game will air live on ESPN at 2 p.m. All seven games will also be streamed on ESPN3.
The defending champion Seminoles (25-8, 21-2 ACC), who are ranked No. 5 in the country, open play at the 2016 championship on Thursday at 11 a.m. against #8-seed Pitt (31-20, 8-14) in a rematch of last season's ACC title game.
Carolina and Boston College play in the second game of the day at 1:30 p.m. UNC took two of three in Chestnut Hill to start the month of April. The winner of UNC and BC's quarterfinal will take on the winner of Florida State vs. Pittsburgh on Friday at 1 p.m.
Louisville (34-14, 15-8) earned the #2-seed and will play seventh-seeded Syracuse (27-25, 9-14) at 5 p.m. The Cardinals won the series with the Orange, two games to one, in late April. The final quarterfinal will feature a matchup between #3-seed Notre Dame (39-10, 13-7) and #6-seed Virginia Tech (29-27, 13-11) at 7:30 p.m. No. 21 Notre Dame swept the Hokies last month.
Daily tickets are available for $5 for adults and $3 for youth 18 and under, while tournament passes are available in advance of the tournament for $9. Students from an ACC school can enter for free with valid student ID. Tickets can be purchased online here: http://theacc.co/sb16tix.
Parking for the 2016 ACC Softball Championship is free and available in the Coliseum Deck located on Cates Avenue across the street from the Derr Track. Patrons will need to park on the second level of the deck or higher by entering off Jeter Drive or Jensen Drive.
