Carolina Posts Win Over Scotland Select

STIRLING, Scotland - Stephanie Watts scored 26 points and Paris Kea added 19 points in her North Carolina debut in a 107-54 victory over Scotland Select on Sunday afternoon at The Peak Sports Center.
Carolina took control of momentum in the first quarter with a 13-0 run that resulted in a 16-5 advantage. Kea did most of the damage with 10 points in the period to lead all scorers.
The first three-pointer of the game went to Watts late in the opening period, giving UNC a tidy 23-16 lead through 10 minutes.
Hillary Fuller, in her first action since the 2014-15 season, scored five points in the second quarter. She also delivered a delightful pass to Cherry on the fast break that put UNC up 32-16.
Watts later caught fire in the second with a trio of three-pointers for a 45-25 lead over Scotland. The sophomore sharp-shooter had 16 points at the break as Carolina led 51-29 at halftime. Kea, who had 14 of her own, combined with Watts to outscore Scotland over the opening 20 minutes.
Emily Sullivan asserted herself nicely into the offense in the third quarter by scoring 11 points to reach double figures for the game. The Tar Heels led 78-45 heading into the final stanza.
The fourth quarter saw Carolina play almost exclusively five freshmen on the court. Naomi Van Nes scored six points, Alyssa Okoene chipped in with four points, and Ali Cyr-Scully drained back-to-back three-pointers. Olivia Smith scored one point and grabbed three rebounds, and Koening added to her game-high 12 rebounds and six points.

North Carolina continues its trip on Monday morning to Ireland with a stop in Northern Ireland along the way. The Tar Heels will spend the remaining time on Sunday in Scotland.]
