Carolina Releases 2016-17 Women's Basketball Schedule

CHAPEL HILL - Home games with Duke, Florida State, NC State and Notre Dame highlight the 2016-17 schedule for the University of North Carolina women's basketball team.
Carolina will play 16 home games in total inside Carmichael Arena, including the season finale on Sunday, Feb. 26 against the Blue Devils. January stacks up to be an exciting month of hoops action in Chapel Hill with Florida State (Jan. 5), Virginia (Jan. 8), Wake Forest (Jan. 19), Notre Dame (Jan. 22) and the Wolfpack (Jan. 29) all coming to town for Atlantic Coast Conference action.
The February trio of home games includes Boston College (Feb. 9), Georgia Tech (Feb. 16) and Duke.
The Tar Heels' conference schedule begins at Virginia Tech on Monday, Jan. 2. UNC will also play road ACC games against Duke (Jan. 12), Pitt (Jan. 15), Miami (Jan. 26), Clemson (Feb. 5), Syracuse (Feb. 12), Louisville (Feb. 19) and NC State (Feb. 23).
Carolina will play seven ACC games on television, while the remaining nine league contests will be streamed on the newly-formed ACC Network Extra. The Notre Dame and Louisville games will be played either on ESPN2 or ESPNU, while the other five televised games will be carried on the Regional Sports Network (RSN/ESPN3).
Carolina begins the non-conference season with a four-game home stand against Alabama State (Nov. 11), Alabama A&M (Nov. 17), Bucknell (Nov. 20) and Charleston Southern (Nov. 22).
The Tar Heels then participate in the Junkanoo Jam from November 24-26 in Freeport, Bahamas. The first game pits UNC against perennial NCAA Tournament participant USF on Nov. 24, while the second game will feature either Georgia or Minnesota.
The annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge game sends Carolina on the road at Wisconsin on Dec. 1 in Madison.
Carolina returns to Carmichael Arena for home contests against Elon (Dec. 4) and Marshall (Dec. 7), before heading to the Grand Strand for the Crescom Bank Holiday Invitational. The Tar Heels will face LSU (Dec. 18) and Jacksonville (Dec. 20) at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
The non-conference schedule concludes with home dates against Coppin State (Dec. 28) and South Carolina State (Dec. 30).
Carolina plays exhibition games at Carmichael on Wednesday, Nov. 2 against Carson-Newman and Monday, Nov. 7 against Elizabeth City State.
