Morgan Lane is Named EAGL Gymnast of the Week

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) announced its weekly honors following the second weekend of competition. Junior Morgan Lane was named the EAGL Gymnast of the Week following a stellar performance at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.
Lane edged out Alex DeMoura of George Washington to win the all-around title with a score of 39.150. This represents the 10th consecutive meet in which Lane has scored a 39.000 or higher in the all-around. The Columbus, Ind., native placed in the top five on two apparatuses – floor exercise and balance beam. She notched a score of 9.850 on both events, which earned her first place on floor and a tie for fifth place on the beam. In addition, she posted a score of 9.750 on bars to tie for sixth place, and had a 9.700 on the vault to finish in 10th place.
She will return to action on Friday as the Tar Heels take on the No. 3 Florida Gators in Carmichael Arena.
