• Carolina plays its fourth ACC road game and eighth true road game this year when it visits Coral Gables on Saturday, January 28th, to play the Miami Hurricanes. Game time is 1 p.m.
• Carolina enters the contest with a one-game lead in the ACC. The Tar Heels are 7-1; Florida State, Notre Dame and Virginia are 6-2.
• This is the sixth time in 14 seasons under Roy Williams the Tar Heels are 7-1 or better in their first eight ACC games (2005, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2017).
• Carolina will be without junior swingman Theo Pinson at Miami. Pinson was injured in Thursday night's win over Virginia Tech. Pinson came down awkwardly while retrieving a rebound and rolled his right ankle. He left the game moments later and did not return. Doctors continue to evaluate his injury. There is no timetable for his return.
• The coaches and basketball staff will be wearing suits and sneakers at Miami for the annual Coaches vs. Cancer awareness week (Jan. 23-29). This is a nationwide event that unites coaches across the country to raise awareness about the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission, and promote the American Cancer Society as a place for help and support. UNC's coaches also wore sneakers in the Virginia Tech game on 1/26.
• This is one of three instances on the ACC schedule this year when the Tar Heels play two games in three days: Jan. 14-16 (home games vs. Florida State and Syracuse); Jan. 26-28 (home vs. Virginia Tech and at Miami); and Feb. 25-27 (away games at Pitt and Virginia).
• The Tar Heels are 19-3 overall and 7-1 in the ACC. UNC has won seven consecutive conference games and scored 85 or more points in all seven games, the first time in school history the Tar Heels have scored 85 or more points in seven straight ACC games.
• It's the fourth-longest streak in ACC history in which a team scored 85 or more points in seven straight ACC games (regular season and Tournament included) and the third-such streak in one season.
• NC State scored 85 or more in nine straight ACC games over a two-year period in 1974 and 1975; Duke did it nine games in a row in 1976, Virginia did it eight games in a row in 1955 and UNC has done it in seven straight this year.
• This is the eighth time in 14 years under Roy Williams the Tar Heels are at least 6-1 in conference play (2005, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2017).
• Carolina started ACC play 7-1 or better in five of Williams' first 13 seasons (2005, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2016). UNC began league play in 2016 with eight wins.
• UNC is ranked No. 9 in the Associated Press and No. 6 in the USA Today/Coaches polls.
• Miami is 13-6 overall and 3-4 in the ACC. The Canes are coming off a one-point home win over Boston College.
• Miami is 9-1 at home this year and has won 22 of its last 23 games at the Watsco Center.
UNC-MIAMI SERIES
• Carolina leads the series against Miami, 20-6, including a 13-5 record since the Hurricanes joined the ACC prior to the 2004-05 season.
• The Tar Heels have won the last two games in the series. Those wins followed a four-game win streak by the Canes from 2012-14.
• Carolina is 8-2 against the Canes in Miami, including 6-2 in the Watsco Center.
• Roy Williams is 16-6 against Miami. He was 2-1 as the head coach at Kansas and is 14-5 as Carolina's head coach.
LAST YEAR VS. MIAMI
• Carolina shot 54.2 percent as a team and beat No. 11 Miami, 96-71, on 2/20 in Chapel Hill.
• The 25-point margin of victory was Carolina's largest against a top-25 team in the AP poll since beating No. 13 Michigan State, 98-63 (35 points), on 12/3/08 in Detroit.
• Six Tar Heels scored in double figures led by Brice Johnson, who had 16 points and 15 rebounds.
• The Tar Heels had assists on 16 of 21 field goals in the second half.
• Justin Jackson sank three 3FGs and had a career-high eight assists. Seven of Jackson's assists came in the second half when the Tar Heels out-scored Miami, 54-38.

• Carolina is ninth nationally in offensive efficiency, but fell to 21st in defensive efficiency (KenPom's version of points per 100 possessions).
• Carolina's 107 points vs. NC State, 93 at Wake Forest and 96 vs. Florida State marked the first time UNC scored 90 or more points in three consecutive ACC games since 1992 and the first time UNC scored 93 or more points in three straight ACC games since the 1986-87 season (only happened 12 times in ACC history).
• Small forward Justin Jackson and point guard Joel Berry II are Carolina's leading two scorers. The last time UNC's top two scorers were perimeter players was 1990-91, when small forward Rick Fox (16.9) and shooting guard Hubert Davis (13.3) were UNC's top two scorers.
• Jackson (18.5) and Berry (15.5) are tied for the third-highest scoring duo in the ACC (all games) at 34.0 points per game. Pitt's Jamel Artis and Michael Young are first at 42.0 ppg, Duke's Luke Kennard and Grayson Allen are second at 34.9 ppg and Berry/Jackson are tied for third with NC State's Dennis Smith Jr. and Terry Henderson at 34.0 ppg.
• Carolina is the only school in the ACC with multiple players (2) ranked in the top 10 in field goal percentage (Kennedy Meeks is fourth and Joel Berry is 10th). No other team has more than one player in the top 10.
• Isaiah Hicks would lead the ACC in field goal percentage at .608 but he is three made field goals short of qualifying.
• Carolina averages 5.7 more field goal attempts per game than its opponents. Only two UNC teams have averaged more – 1967 (9.4), 1968 (6.5).
• Isaiah Hicks is 24 for 35 from the floor (.686) and 30 for 34 from the line (.82) in the last five games.
• Four Tar Heels are averaging in double figures in all games and in the 19 wins, but in the three losses only Justin Jackson (23.7) and Joel Berry II (13.0) are averaging double figures. The Tar Heels have scored 76.7 points in their three losses (11.2 below season average).

• The last time two players scored 20 points seven or more times in a season was 2012 when Harrison Barnes (12) and Tyler Zeller (11) combined for 23 20-point performances.
• The Tar Heels have hit the century mark five times this year. That's the most 100-point games in one season since 2008-09, when the eventual national champions hit 100 nine times.
• Earlier this season, Kennedy Meeks and Justin Jackson became the 73rd and 74th Tar Heels to score 1,000 career points. Carolina has more 1,000-point scorers than any other school in the nation.
• Justin Jackson is UNC's active career scoring leader with 1,303 points. He is the 42nd Tar Heel to score at least 1,300 points. With 26 points against the Hokies, he passed York Larese, Joseph Forte, George Karl and Kevin Madden on UNC's all-time scoring list.
• Joel Berry II has 947 points (needs 53 for 1,000). Isaiah Hicks has 933 points (needs 67 for 1,000).

• Carolina leads the country in offensive rebound percentage at .430. UNC is one of only five teams to rebound 40 percent of its own missed shots. Kent State, SMU, West Virginia and Wagner are the other four.
