Tar Heels Fall In National Rankings

CHAPEL HILL—North Carolina fell three spots to No. 12 in the Associated Press poll and four spots to No. 10 in the USA Today Coaches poll in new rankings released on Monday afternoon. The Tar Heels were No. 9 in the AP poll and No. 6 in the coaches rankings before splitting two games last week (beating Virginia Tech and losing at Miami).
ACC Teams in the Poll
• There are six Atlantic Coast Conference teams ranked in this week's AP poll, including No. 6 Louisville, No. 9 Virginia, No. 12 UNC, No. 15 Florida State, No. 20 Notre Dame and No. 21 Duke.
Carolina's Poll History
• Carolina has been ranked in 871 AP polls, more than any school in the nation.
• The Tar Heels have been ranked in the AP Top 10 654 times, most in ACC history and second-most all-time behind Kentucky.
• The Tar Heels have achieved a Top-10 ranking in the AP poll in 54 of the poll's 68 seasons, including 48 of the last 51.
• Carolina has finished in the AP Top 10 35 times, including 24 of the last 36 years.
