Roy Williams updated the status of Theo Pinson on his radio show on Monday night with Jones Angell.
Pinson, a junior from Greensboro, was injured in Thursday's game against Virginia Tech and did not play on Saturday against Miami. “Theo rolled his ankle,” Williams said Monday night. “That's how we're treating it. We're evaluating it all the time. When guys roll their ankle, they don't run back out there the next day…Joel Berry rolled his ankle and missed a week or ten days.”
Williams saw Pinson on Monday at the Smith Center and said he is out of the boot he wore at Saturday's game. However, “I don't have any timetable,” Williams said. “We'll just wait and see how Theo goes. He's not going to play tomorrow (against Pitt). He did some upper body stuff with Jonas (Sahratian) in the weight room today. He'll keep doing that until he comes back and plays.”
Williams did point out Pinson brings one very important characteristic to the able—“He's undefeated,” the head coach said. “I like undefeated guys.”
Carolina was 6-0 in the six games in which Pinson played, and outscored those half-dozen opponents by a combined 114 points.
The Roy Williams Live radio show airs on Monday nights on the Tar Heel Sports Network.
