CHAPEL HILL–The new Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll is available now, and top-ranked UNC will visit No. 2 Maryland on Saturday in a rematch of last year's NCAA championship game.
The Tar Heels beat the Terrapins, 13-7, in the 2016 national final in Chester, Pa. On Saturday February 25, Carolina will visit Maryland for the annual regular season meeting between the two old Atlantic Coast Conference rivals.
Carolina received all 20 first-place votes in this week's poll and 400 points overall in the vote of the nation's coaches. Maryland was second with 379 points. Southern California, Florida and Syracuse rounded out the top five. ACC teams Duke (No. 8), Notre Dame (No. 9) and Louisville (No. 20) also dotted the poll, while Virgnia and Boston College dropped out of the preseason poll but still received votes this week.
