CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina is ranked fourth in the southeast region and 25th nationally on the balance beam entering the final week of the regular season. The Tar Heels have a regional qualifying score* (RQS) of 48.875.
The Tar Heels have posted four scores on beam of 49.000 or higher this year, including a season-best 49.250 in a win at Pittsburgh. Leading the way on beam is junior Morgan Lane (9.872 RQS), freshman Khazia Hislop (9.806) and freshman Emma Marchese (9.719)
Lane has been Carolina's top performer all season, scoring a 39.000 in the all-around in seven of eight meets. She is currently ranked 19th nationally in the all-around with a RQS of 39.265.
The Tar Heels are ranked 33rd overall with a RQS of 194.788. UNC will face No. 3 UCLA on Sunday, March 12, in Los Angeles.
*Qualification for regional competition is based on a team's and an all-around competitor's six best regular-season-meet scores, of which three must be away. To obtain the regional qualifying score (RQS), the high score is eliminated and the remaining five scores are averaged. Teams with a "0.0" RQS have not yet competed enough meets to compute an RQS.
