No. 3 Tar Heels Wrap Perfect Homestand With 16-4 Win

After five straight comeback wins, the Tar Heels took care of business early in this one, scoring three times in the first and adding two each in the third and fourth. Logan Warmoth reached base four times and scored three runs for Carolina, which topped double figures for the first time in seven contests.
Austin Bergner struck out a pair of Bulldogs over two scoreless innings to improve to 4-2 on the year. Bo Weiss made his first career start and allowed one run in three innings of work.
UNC Asheville (19-27) scored three times against the Tar Heel bullpen and had the tying runs on base in the seventh when Brett Daniels got Chris Troost to line out to second.
But UNC responded with three runs of its own in the bottom of the seventh to put the game on ice. Tyler Lynn doubled in Warmoth and scored on a wild pitch before Cody Roberts plated McGee with a sac fly. Carolina added six runs in the eighth with Brendan Illies, Josh Ladowski, Brandon Martorano, Adam Pate and Miller contributing RBIs.
Brandon Lankford had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Asheville offense. Justin Woods allowed three runs in the first to drop to 3-3.
Carolina returns to ACC action this weekend with a three-game series at Virginia Tech starting Friday at 5:30 p.m.
