Four Corners: Draft Night Approaching
June 22, 2017 | Men's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL—Thursday will be a big night for several Tar Heels, as the NBA holds its annual player selection draft in Brooklyn, N.Y. Forwards Justin Jackson, Tony Bradley, Isaiah Hicks and Kennedy Meeks and guard Nate Britt all have worked out for various NBA teams in the 10 weeks since winning the 2017 NCAA championship.
Here's more of the latest news from the world of Tar Heel basketball.
1. NEWS & NOTES
♦ Graduate transfer forward Cameron Johnson is the newest Tar Heel. Johnson signed a scholarship agreement last week to attend Carolina. Johnson will have two years of eligibility remaining and will begin play in 2017-18 after averaging nearly 12 points and hitting 42 percent of his three-point attempts for Pitt last season.
♦ The Carolina Basketball Museum will be closed from Saturday July 1 through Tuesday July 4 for the Independence Day holiday.
2. LAST WEEK
♦ Former Tar Heel center Eric Montross held his annual Father's Day camp in the Smith Center over the weekend, raising money for UNC Hospitals. Adam Lucas writes about the special connection Montross helped form between junior Luke Maye and a local Tar Heel fan.
♦ Roy Williams also is hosting his annual camp this month. Last week's camp game between current players and alumni was an example of how the Carolina Basketball Family became more like an actual family, with several former players bringing their young children along for the pilgrimmage back to Chapel Hill.
