UNC To Host Minnesota In 2017 B1G/ACC Challenge

GREENSBORO, North Carolina - The 2017 version of the annual Big Ten/ACC Women's Basketball Challenge will feature North Carolina hosting the University of Minnesota on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at Carmichael Arena. Game time will be announced at a later date.
The Tar Heels own an impressive 7-3 record in the challenge against foes from the Big Ten. However, Carolina and the Golden Gophers have never matched up in the series that started in 2007.
The two clubs must just last season at the Junkanoo Jam in Bimini, Bahamas. Paris Kea exploded for a career-high 32 points and Jamie Cherry dished out 12 assists on top of 17 points in a 91-77 UNC victory on Nov. 25, 2016.
Carolina overcome a five-point deficit heading to the fourth quarter by scoring 34 points in the final stanza. The game featured 18 lead changes and 11 ties.
UNC returns all five starters from last year's club that finished the 2016-17 campaign with a 15-16 record.
Minnesota, coming off a 15-16 season, is led by fourth-year head coach Marlene Stollings. The Golden Gophers are 4-6 in the challenge with their last win coming at NC State in 2014.
Carolina leads 3-1 in the all-time series.
