• Carolina and Virginia met in the 123rd edition of the South's Oldest Rivalry, the most-played series involving Atlantic Coast Conference programs. Carolina had won the previous four matchups in Scott Stadium dating back to 2010.
• QB Nathan Elliott's 271 passing yards on Saturday moved him into 18th place on the UNC career passing yards chart with 2,491 yards. Elliott was 22-of-38 with two touchdown passes on the day.
• Elliott has tossed 212 consecutive pass attempts without an interception, the most in a single season and the second-longest mark in program history. The school record is 243 attempts held by Mitch Trubisky that spanned portions of three campaigns (2014-16).
• Dazz Newsome hauled in a 30-yard touchdown pass from Nathan Elliott in the first quarter. It's the third TD in the last two games for Newsome, and was the second-longest touchdown pass for UNC this season.
• Myles Dorn recorded his third career interception in the second quarter. The Tar Heels have five interceptions in the last four games, their longest interception streak since coming up with at least one in each of the final six games of the 2015 campaign.
• TE Carl Tucker scored his first touchdown since 2016 and the second of his career on a 16-yard pass and catch from Nathan Elliott in the second quarter.
• UNC's leading tackler Cole Holcomb had a season-high 13 tackles on Saturday. His previous best this season was 12 in the victory over Pitt.
• Carolina had nine different receivers catch a pass at Virginia on Sunday. That is the sixth-straight game the Tar Heels have seen at least nine players haul in a reception.
