Carolina Hosted ECU In Controlled Scrimmage

CHAPEL HILL - North Carolina and East Carolina played a controlled scrimmage Monday at Carmichael Arena. Carolina sophomore Janelle Bailey led all players with 23 points and 15 rebounds over five 10-minute periods.
Junior Stephanie Watts had 15 points in her first action with the Tar Heels since late in the 2016-17 season. Juniors Shayla Bennett (11) and Taylor Koenen (10) also scored in double figures.
North Carolina outscored the Pirates, 43-22, over the first and second periods, while ECU held a slight 41-40 edge spanning the third and fourth quarters.
The final 10-minute period saw the Pirates enjoy a 25-13 advantage over UNC's reserves.
Carolina returns to action on Thursday in an exhibition game against Carson-Newman inside Carmichael Arena at 6 p.m.
