UNC Earns No. 5 Seed For NCAA Championship

Chapel Hill, N.C. – North Carolina earned the No. 5 seed in the 2018 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship, and will host a second-round match on Sunday, Nov. 18, at WakeMed Soccer Park beginning at 6 p.m. ET.
Carolina will open its 26th NCAA postseason appearance against the winner of Thursday's first round match between High Point and James Madison.
Tickets are available for purchase at GoHeels.com, and are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. All UNC students with valid a UNC One Card will receive free entry to the game.
Carolina is a top-16 national seed for the eighth time in the last 10 years, and will be making its 18th postseason appearance in the last 19 seasons. The Tar Heels have hosted at least one postseason match every year since 2000.
UNC, 40-20-8 in NCAA Championship action, has won the national title in 2001 and 2011, appeared in eight College Cup, and are looking to make three straight trips to the college cup for the first time since they went four consecutive years from 2008-2011.
Carolina is 14-3-1 this season, winning the ACC Coastal Division for the fourth year in a row with a 6-1 conference mark and was the No. 2 seed in the ACC Championship. The Tar Heels placed six players on the postseason All-ACC teams, led by senior Alex Comsia who was named ACC Defender of the Year as well as first team.
Nils Bruening, James Pyle and Mauricio Pineda rounded out the first team selections for the Tar Heels while John Nelson was named to the second team and Jack Skahan was a third team selection.
