Academic All-Stars Program Resumes Saturday
November 14, 2018 | Football
CHAPEL HILL --- The University of North Carolina Department of Athletics, along with official sponsor Crumley Roberts, is again this fall partnering with elementary schools across the state to recognize students who exhibit exceptional academic aptitude and character.Â
The Academic All-Stars program, now in its sixth year, invites participating elementary schools to select outstanding students in each grade to be recognized at an upcoming Carolina game for their academic success. Each of the selected students will receive tickets to an upcoming football or men's basketball game, where they will receive a certificate to honor their accomplishments and will be publicly recognized.
"The mission of Carolina Athletics is to educate and inspire through athletics, and the Academic All-Stars program is a great example of what we are trying to achieve," Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham said. "We are excited to once again be able to provide a memorable experience for young people from throughout our state."
More than 500 schools from throughout North Carolina are participating in this year's program, which will allow UNC to recognize more than 2,000 elementary school students for their hard work and outstanding achievements in the classroom.
