Carolina Seeks Victory Bell Saturday At Duke

Carolina plays its final road game of the season Saturday when the Tar Heels make the short drive to Durham to face ACC Coastal rival Duke at 12:20 p.m.
UNC is 1-7 on the year and 1-5 in the league following a 38-28 loss to Georgia Tech last Saturday. Carolina rallied from an 18-point deficit to tie the game at 28 in the fourth quarter, but the Yellow Jackets scored 10 straight to close the game.
Duke is 6-3 on the year and 2-3 in ACC play after a 20-12 win at Miami. Deon Jackson rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown in a game that was played in torrential rain. The Blue Devil defense limited the Hurricanes to just 111 passing yards on the night.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on Raycom Sports and locally on WRAL.
BATTLE FOR THE VICTORY BELL
The winner of Saturday's game will receive the coveted Victory Bell, which has been presented annually to the winner of the Carolina-Duke football game since the 1940s. A large bell on wheels, this prize was originated by former Tar Heel cheerleader Norm Sper. Carolina has owned the bell for 23 of the last 28 seasons.

• North Carolina and Duke will renew their rivalry for the 105th time Saturday with the Tar Heels holding a 61-39-4 advantage. The Blue Devils have won the last two games in the series - a 28-27 decision in Durham in 2016 and last year's 27-17 final in Chapel Hill.
• Carolina has had a player rush for 100 yards or more on 42 occasions vs. Duke, including nine of the last 13 meetings. Some highlights include:
- 2014: T.J. Logan rushed for 116 yards on 18 carries in a 45-20 win.
- 2011: Giovani Bernard had 165 yards and a touchdown in a 37-21 victory.
- 2010: Anthony Elzy rushed for 116 yards in a 24-19 victory in Durham.
- 2009: Ryan Houston ran for 164 yards on 37 carries in a 19-6 win.
• Eight of the last 13 games in the series have been decided by eight points or fewer.
• Duke last won three straight in the series from 1987-89. Carolina won 13 in a row starting in 1990, and the Tar Heels took 21 of 22 meetings between 1990 and 2011. In the six meetings since, the teams have alternated two-game winning streaks (Duke 2012-13, UNC 2014-15, Duke 2016-17).
