UNC Signs Two Blue Chip Recruits

CHAPEL HILL - Kacie Harvey of Braintree, Mass., and Anika Yarlagadda of West Bloomfield, Mich., have signed National Letters of Intent to play tennis at the University of North Carolina, announced Wednesday by head coach Brian Kalbas.
"We are thrilled to have these two Blue Chip talents join our program, said Kalbas, the winningest coach in ACC women's tennis history.
"Kacie and Anika both come from tremendous families and will bring an incredible work ethic and great attitudes into our program. I have no doubt they will be outstanding additions to our Tar Heel family."
Harvey is a blue chip recruit and the No. 16 overall player in the 2019 signing class according to TennisRecruiting.net. She is No. 2 in the New England region, the top-ranked player in Massachusetts and has a UTR rating of 11.42.
Harvey reached No. 60 in the ITF rankings in May 2018. She competed in the 2018 US Open Junior Tennis Championship, won a grade 1 ITF doubles title in Ecuador this past summer and was a quarterfinals at the 2018 hard court nationals.
In 2017, Harvey won ITF doubles championships in Chile, Guatemala, Puerto Rico and the Orange Bowl 16s in Plantation, Fla.
Yarlagadda is also a blue chip recruit that is ranked No. 10 in the 2019 class (No. 3 in the RPI), the No. 2 player in the Great Lakes region and is No. 1 in the state of Michigan. She won the 2018 International Grass Court Championships in Haverford, Pa., reached the Winter Nationals semifinals and won both singles and doubles titles in a Grade 4 event in Burlington Canada.
Yarlagadda has been ranked inside the top 10 in her class for the last three years, reaching a high of No. 7 in 2018. She owned the No. 1 RPI in 2017 and her UTR rating is 11.60.
