CHAPEL HILL – Taking a two-run lead in the first inning and slugging three home runs throughout the game, North Carolina never looked back en route to an 8-0 six inning win over Campbell on Friday night. UNC limited the Camels to two hits to improve to 29-25 on the season while Campbell falls to 26-25.

Brittany Pickett led the Tar Heels both at the plate and in the circle. Matching a single-game hit of 10 strikeouts, the sophomore went 3-for-3 – each an extra base hit, including a home run and driving in three runs.

Additionally, Zoë Goodman cleared the park for her first career home run in the fifth before Katelyn Shifflett did the same three batters later to cap of her career at Anderson Stadium. Both Kristina Burkhardt and Taylor Wike went 2-for-3 while Wike drove in the walk-off RBI in the bottom of the sixth inning during her final collegiate at-bat at home.

The Tar Heels jumped on the board first thanks to a Pickett double to left field and a single up the middle by Burkhardt for a two-run lead.

Pickett extended Carolina's lead with a solo-shot to center in the third before slugging an RBI-double for a five-run lead in the fifth. The Tar Heels continued with a pair of home runs by Goodman and Shifflett, upping Carolina's lead to seven.

Pinch hitters Brooke Burns and Campbell Hutcherson set the stage as Wike stepped up to the plate. The senior laced the ball through the right side for an RBI-single and the 8-0 win to cap off Carolina's home season.

Pickett improves to 27-11 on the season with her 10th shutout while Campbell's Megan Richards took the loss in 4.0 innings.

The Tar Heels travel to the ACC Tournament hosted by Georgia Tech Wednesday through Saturday in Atlanta.
