#3 North Carolina Set for ACC Tournament

ATLANTA – Wrapping up the Tar Heels' 20th winning season since 1998, third-seeded North Carolina travels to Atlanta for the 2018 ACC Tournament hosted by Georgia Tech. The Tar Heels begin the tournament Thursday at 7:30 p.m. against host, #6 Georgia Tech at Mewborn Field.

Fans can watch all eight games of the ACC Tournament on the league's Regional Sports Networks while Saturday's title game will be carried live on ESPN. The 2018 ACC Softball Championship will continue with Friday's semifinals at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., and will conclude with Saturday's championship game at noon. The first three rounds will be broadcast on the league's Regional Sports Networks, and ESPN will carry the championship game. Live stats are available on UNClivestats.com.

Wrapping up ACC play with a 1-1 series outcome at Syracuse, North Carolina finished the regular season second in the ACC Coastal division with series wins over NC State, Notre Dame and Virginia, and sweeps over Duke and Virginia Tech. Third-seeded Carolina logged its fifth ACC series win over NC State, capping off the series with a Monday night, 8-0 in six innings on ESPNU. Most recently, the Tar Heels downed Campbell in commanding, 8-0 fashion in the regular season finale. Taking a two-run lead in the first inning and slugging three home runs throughout the game, North Carolina never looked back en route to an 8-0 six inning win over Campbell.

Kiani Ramsey leads the team with a .378 average for the season with a team-best 56 hits. With a .354 average, Taylor Wike tops the team leaderboards in several offensive categories: hits (56), home runs (8), RBI (33), slugging percentage (.601) and on-base percentage (.452). Leah Murray owns a .344 average, leading the team in runs scored (32) and stolen bases (33). With a 27-11 record, Brittany Pickett ranks second nationally in victories and eighth in shutouts, while also slugging seven home runs at the plate.

The Tar Heels own a 30-40 record at the ACC tournament since 1992 with one championship in 2001. UNC leads the all-time series against the 2018 field, 167-160. Carolina has never missed an ACC Tournament. The Tar Heels have won at least one game in the ACC Tournament each of the last 12 seasons and won at least one game 21 times in the past 26 years. Carolina won multiple games seven times. At the two ACC tournaments in Georgia, UNC has a 3-3 record: 1-2 in 1997 in Marietta, Georgia and 2-1 in 2011 in Atlanta.
