Carolina Draws Ohio State In ACC/B1G Challenge
June 11, 2018 | Women's Basketball
GREENSBORO, North Carolina - North Carolina visits Ohio State in one of the featured matchups of the annual ACC/Big Ten Women's Basketball Challenge on Thursday, Nov. 29 in Columbus, Ohio.
Carolina has compiled an 8-3 record in the challenge against the best offered up from the Big Ten. That mark includes a pair of victories over the Buckeyes - 72-63 in Columbus in 2008 and 57-54 in Chapel Hill in 2012.
The Tar Heels have won five straight encounters against Ohio State and are 5-3 all-time in the series. The last occurrence was perhaps the most thrilling game in the bunch when Jamie Cherry's jumper with 0.6 seconds left sent Carolina past Ohio State 86-84 in the second round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament in Chapel Hill.
Led by first-team All-ACC performer Paris Kea, Carolina returns four starters from last year's club that finished with a 15-16 record in the 2017-18 campaign.
Ohio State must replace the loss of four starters from a team that posted a 28-7 record, won the Big Ten regular season, and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
A year ago, ACC women's basketball teams combined for a record 10 wins over the Big Ten to win the 2017 Big Ten/ACC Challenge, 10-4. The outright title was the eighth overall for the ACC. The ACC owns an 81-55 record against the Big Ten in Challenge games.
Game times, as well as television coverage for the 2018 ACC/Big Ten Challenge, will be announced at a later date.
