CHAPEL HILL—Rachel Jones of the women's soccer team had a big night on Friday, making her first career start and scoring her first career goal to lead Anson Dorrance's squad to a 1-0 win at second-ranked Florida State in Tallahassee.
Meanwhile, field hockey freshman Erin Matson has continued to impress for the undefeated field hockey team. Another freshman, Dougie Ergood, led the men's golf team and finished fifth at the Louisville Cardinal Challenge. Brynn Walker of the women's golf team posted two strong rounds and senior Nils Bruening scored another game-winner for the men's soccer team.
