Florida State escaped Carmichael Arena with a 64-63 victory over North Carolina last Sunday. Paris Kea led North Carolina (9-7, 0-2 ACC) with a team-high 17 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter on a controversial charge call with the game still in the balance. Janelle Bailey added 16 points and seven rebounds, while Shayla Bennett had 15 points, including a three-pointer with 1.9 seconds left in regulation that got UNC within the final 64-63 margin. FSU dribbled out the final seconds to secure the win. Nausia Woolfolk scored a game-high 20 points for Florida State. Nicki Ekhomu had 16 points and Kiah Gillespie tossed in 14 and grabbed nine boards.

• UNC has lost its first two ACC games by a combined eight points, a 73-66 setback at then No. 3 Louisville on Jan. 3 and a 64-63 loss to Florida State last Sunday in Chapel Hill.
• Janelle Bailey was named ACC Player of the Week on Dec. 31 after a 30-point, 14-rebound performance last time out against Howard, tying her career high in points and notched her 8th double-double of the year.Â
• Bailey ranks fifth in the ACC in both scoring (17.1) and rebounding (9.3) per game.
