Tar Heels Visit Miami Looking For 3-0 ACC Road Start

GAME 18 NOTEBOOK
• Carolina travels to Coral Gables, Fla., to play Miami on Saturday, Jan. 19. The Tar Heels are 13-4 overall, 3-1 in the ACC, after their 75-69 win over Notre Dame. The Hurricanes are 9-7 overall, 1-3 in league play. The Canes have been idle since 1/12, when they defeated Wake Forest, 76-65.
• Carolina won its first two ACC road games (at Pitt and NC State). The last time UNC won its first three ACC road games was the 2015-16 season (wins at Florida State, Syracuse and Virginia Tech). Roy Williams' Tar Heel teams have started 3-0 on the road three times – in 2007-08, 2014-15 and 2015-16.
• Roy Williams has the second-most ACC road wins (81) and second-highest winning percentage in ACC road games (.633) in conference history.
• Carolina is 4-1 on the road this year with wins at Wofford, Elon, Pitt and NC State. Virginia is the only other ACC team with four road wins this season. Syracuse has three; Duke, Georgia Tech and Louisville each have two; five teams have one and four have none.
• Carolina is second in the ACC and fifth in the country in scoring at 87.4 points per game. The Tar Heels have scored 80 or more points 11 times this season (10-1 when they do), 90 more eight times (8-0) and broken the century mark four times (4-0).Â
• Carolina trailed Notre Dame by three points at halftime. It was the sixth time this season UNC trailed at the half and the second time the Tar Heels came back to win (also came back to beat UCLA in Las Vegas in November).
• Junior guard Brandon Robinson has made eight of his last 11 three-point attempts. Robinson and freshman guard Coby White share the team with four three-pointers in the last two games. Robinson made one three against Louisville and a career-high three from beyond the arc in the win over Notre Dame.
• Miami's win in Chapel Hill was the second-largest comeback win by a UNC opponent last year (it was the largest in the first 30 games); nine days later in Brooklyn, the Tar Heels overcame a 14-point deficit in beating the Canes, Carolina's largest comeback win all of last season.
UNC-MIAMI SERIES
• Carolina leads the series, 22-8.
• The Tar Heels have won three of the last five over the previous four seasons, while the Canes have won six of the last nine dating back the previous six seasons.
• The teams split two games with Miami winning on Senior Night in Chapel Hill and the Tar Heels knocking Miami out of the ACC Tournament in the quarterfinal round in Brooklyn nine days later.
• Carolina is 8-3 against Miami in Coral Gables, including 6-3 in the Canes' current home arena.
• Carolina's most recent win in Coral Gables came in 2015.

UNC 82, MIAMI 65 (3/8/18 IN BROOKLYN)
• The Tar Heels did not score for the first 7:09 and spotted the Hurricanes a 14-0 lead, then out-scored Miami, 82-51, the rest of the game.
• Carolina missed its first 13 shots from the floor before Seventh Woods scored on a drive and three-point play with 12:51 to play in the first half.
• Brandon Robinson gave UNC its first lead at 19-18 with a three-pointer with 5:57 left in the half.
• The game was tied at 50 with 10:31 to play before the Tar Heels closed the game by out-scoring the Canes, 32-15.
• Theo Pinson scored a career-high 25 points and added 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals.Â
• Carolina missed its first 13 field goal attempts (seven of which were three-point attempts), then shot 50 percent from the floor over the final 13 minutes of the first half (11 of 22) and 50 percent in the second half (18 of 36).
