Kea Named National Player Of The Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina senior guard Paris Kea has compiled multiple player of the week awards since helping lead her Tar Heel club to a 78-73 upset of top ranked Notre Dame on Sunday.
Monday saw Kea earn her first career Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week award and espnW also dubbed her their national player of the year.
She averaged 28.0 points, 6.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds spanning two victories last week for the Tar Heels, who sit 12-9 overall, 3-4 in the ACC, and own a RPI of 33 and a strength of schedule of No. 8 in the country.
On Tuesday, the Greensboro, N.C., native added to her list of accolades when selected the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Ann Meyers Drysdale Women's National Player of the Week.
Kea became just the fourth Division I player in the last 20 years to have a 30-point, 10-assist game against a ranked opponent in her historic performance against the Fighting Irish.
She also earned Citizen Naismith Trophy Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
Kea had 26 points, five rebounds and two assists in Carolina's victory on the road at Virginia Tech on Thursday.
According to ESPN, the Tar Heel win snapped a 198-game losing streak by unranked teams against the No. 1 ranked team in the country.
Carolina hosts Georgia Tech in a critical conference battle on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Tar Heels and Yellow Jackets own identical 3-4 ACC records nearing the midpoint of the league slate.
