Carolina Announces Signing Class

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Three outstanding high school seniors have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Tar Heel fencing program, coach Matt Jednak announced Thursday.
Tarleton Hunt, Allegra (Ali) Parker and Noah Shepanek will join the team in the fall of 2020.
"We are extremely excited for these three future Tar Heels to join us next year," UNC head coach Matt Jednak said. "Not only are they very talented athletes, they are also amazing people. I look forward to each one of them adding to our program as the join the Carolina Fencing family."
Hunt, from Bellaire, Texas, is a foil fencer and competes for Salle Mauro Fencing Academy in Houston. She will graduate from the Bridge School, an online program.
Parker, from Austin Texas, is an epee fencer and competes for Texas Fencing Academy. She attends Liberal Arts and Sciences Academy in Austin.
Shepanek, from Tigard, Ore., is a sabre fencer and competes for PDX Fencing. He attends Jesuit High School.
The Tar Heels are in action this weekend for the final time in 2019, traveling to the Penn State Open. The women compete on Saturday and the men on Sunday.
