Tar Heels Dominate At Elon, 20-2

ELON, N.C. – Seven North Carolina players scored multiple goals and 11 scored overall as third-ranked North Carolina earned a 20-2 win at Elon on Tuesday night.
Katie Hoeg led the way with three goals and two assists, and Jamie Ortega added three goals and one assist.
Tayler Warehime had two goals and an assist, while Taylor McDaniels, Olivia Ferrucci, Ida Farinholt and Amanda Fedor all scored twice. Elizabeth Hillman had a goal and an assist. Gianna Bowe, Scottie Rose Growney and Marisa DiVietro each scored once, and Ally Mastroianni had an assist.
Mae McGlynn and Cami Lynch both scored goals for Elon.
Carolina led, 4-0, after the first eight minutes and 12-2 at halftime. The Tar Heels scored all eight of the game's second-half goals.
Taylor Moreno (6-1) started in goal for Carolina and made six saves in 42:23 while allowing two goals. Elise Hennessey finished things up in the cage and made two saves in the final 17:37.
Notable
• The game was the second road game of the year for the Tar Heels, who lost, 13-12, at Maryland in late February. Carolina will hit the road again on Saturday at Florida.
• Carolina outshot the Phoenix, 32-12, and won 17 draws to Elon's eight. UNC controlled 15 ground balls to Elon's six.

The Tar Heels will play the second of back-to-back road games when they visit No. 16 Florida on Saturday. UNC's next home game is next Tuesday March 19 vs. Campbell.
