Carolina Finishes Third in Regular Season Finale

CORVALLIS, OR — The North Carolina women's gymnastics team closed out its regular season by placing third (191.750) at a quad meet hosted by Oregon State featuring Iowa and Seattle Pacific on Friday night in Corvallis, Oregon. Khazia Hislop led the Tar Heels, standing alone on the top spot of the podium on vault and placing fifth on floor.
Carolina opened the meet on beam and scored 47.475. Hislop led the Tar Heels with a score of 9.725 and placed seventh in the event. Lily Dean scored 9.650 to place 12th on beam. Emery Summey made her second career appearance on beam and scored 9.625, improving from 8.750 last week.
For the second rotation, Carolina moved over to floor and scored 48.475. Hislop led the Tar Heels with a fifth-place finish and 9.850. She extended her streak of 19-consecutive meets scoring 9.850+. Two Tar Heels tied for ninth as Madison Hargrave and Mikayla Robinson tied both scored 9.825.
On vault, the Tar Heels scored 48.875 for its best rotation of the night. Hislop again led the Tar Heels, placing first in the event with a 9.900. Robinson scored 9.800 on vault to finish fifth. Summey and Hargrave placed 13th with 9.750, setting a career high for Summey.
The Tar Heels ended the day with a 46.675 on bars. Grace Donaghy was the only Tar Heel to place in the top-10 on the event with a 9.700, tied for 10th place. Drew Aldridge scored 9.675 to closely follow Donaghy in 12th place.
Carolina spends a week in Chapel Hill before catching another plane destined for Durham, New Hampshire for the 2019 East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships. The competition will begin at 3 p.m.
