Paris Kea Selected By Indiana Fever In 2019 WNBA Draft
April 10, 2019 | Women's Basketball
New York - North Carolina guard Paris Kea was selected by the Indiana Fever in the third round (25th overall pick) of the WNBA Draft on Wednesday from the Nike New York Headquarters.
Named an honorable mention All-America by the WBCA in her final season with the Tar Heels, Kea was a first team All-ACC selection as both a junior and senior, and will graduate as the second all-time scoring average leader in program history at 18.0 points per game.
In just three seasons with Carolina, Kea ranks 17th in school history with 1,637 career points, the seventh most points ever scored in a three-year span in program history. She is one of only four UNC players to score 1,000 points in two seasons.
Ever consistent scoring the ball, Kea poured in double figure points in 82 of 91 games with the Tar Heels. Her seven career 30-point games are the second most in program history.Â
She will perhaps best be remembered for her 30-point, 10-assist performance when North Carolina defeated No. 1 Notre Dame, 78-73, on Jan. 27, 2019. As a result, Kea earned national player of the week honors by espnW, Naismith Trophy and the USBWA.
Heading into her final collegiate campaign, Kea was listed as a preseason third team All-America (Street & Smith's), and on the watch lists for the Nancy Lieberman award, the Wooden Award, the Naismith Award and the Wade Trophy.
The psychology major averaged 17.3 points, 3.9 assists and 3.3 rebounds during the 2018-19 season.Â
The WNBA tips off its 23rd season on May 24, 2019.Â
