ACADEMICS
• The sixth-annual Tar Heel Scholar-Athlete Academic Awards Luncheon celebrated success in the spring 2018 and fall 2018 semesters. Click here for more on the event. Each of the Top 10 Scholar-Athletes gave a short speech, introducing his or her invited faculty guest and passing along a few words of advice. Each speech is linked within the story – be sure to check them out if you haven't already!

• Luke Maye was honored at the Chancellor's Awards as the winner of this year's Jim Tatum Memorial Award, which goes to the student-athlete "who has performed with distinction in his or her sport and who has contributed to the University community through constructive participation in co-curricular activities."

All-ACC Academic honors for winter sports were announced, with 14 Tar Heels recognized.
Fencing: Wei Chee Chen, Matthew Garrelick, Jackie Litynski, Daniel Mogilevsky, Beni Rabinowitz
Swimming & Diving: Brooke Bauer, Caroline Hauder, Sophie Lindner, Sterling Smith
Indoor Track and Field: Anna Eaton, Anna Keefer
Wrestling: Gary Wayne Harding, Joe Heilmann, Brandon Whitman
(Men's and women's basketball were announced earlier in the semester.)
• Senior Kiani Ramsey (softball) was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team.
• UNC's single-year Academic Progress Rate improved for the second year in a row and 23 of UNC's 28 sports exceed the national four-year average in their respective sports.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The Pen Pal Program wrapped up its sixth year with a fun meet & greet at the UNC-Liberty baseball game on April 30. Smiles all around.
