All Student Tickets Claimed For Miami Game
August 30, 2019 | Football
CHAPEL HILL - The anticipation level on campus for the Sept. 7 home opening football game under the lights at Kenan Stadium continues to build as we near a sell-out crowd when the Tar Heels host Miami at 8 p.m.
The student section, or the "The Tar Pit" as it is commonly referred to by fans, will be rocking after all the allotted tickets in the student section were claimed by UNC students on Wednesday and Thursday morning of this week.
"What an outstanding effort by our students to register for all the tickets for the Carolina-Miami game in less than 30 hours," said Bubba Cunningham, UNC Director of Athletics. "That's a commitment we need to have every game. A packed student section and full house under the lights in one most beautiful football settings in the country will be a perfect way to welcome Coach Brown back to Kenan Stadium."
A new policy for 2019 requires students to register for tickets beginning 10 days prior to kickoff. Once the ticket office opened registration at 9 a.m., most of the tickets were claimed by students by 5 p.m. Wednesday and were completely spoken for by 11 a.m. the following day.
Students that missed out on tickets for the Miami game are still encouraged to come to Kenan and wait in the standby line for available seating. Students in line must show their OneCard to gain entrance into the stadium.
"We need our student section to be full each and every Saturday to create the home-field advantage we want," said head coach Mack Brown after hearing the news of our student turnout this week.
"To have every ticket claimed for the Miami game just a day after they were offered is a huge step in the right direction. Now, we need everyone to be in the stadium 30 minutes before the game, be loud and make Kenan one of the hardest places to play in the country, not just against Miami, but for every game moving forward."
An important note – any student who registered for a ticket who subsequently decides not to attend the game should go to www.goheels.com/tickets to log into their student account and return the ticket. Questions for the ticket office should be directed to 919-962-2296.
Non-students wishing to order tickets for UNC football games against Miami, Duke, Virginia and Mercer should click here https://bit.ly/2ZMQOSK. Please note that ticket availability for Miami is extremely limited and we do expect that game to sell out soon.
The UNC-Miami game will be televised nationally on the ACC Network.
