Tar Heels Travel to Power Five Invitational

Ann Arbor, Mich. - The University of North Carolina track & field program will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. Friday and Saturday for the Power Five Invitational at the University of Michigan indoor track. The Tar Heels will travel 37 athletes to the two-day meet.
The 2020 Power Five Invitational features a field of seven teams: Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Northwestern and Notre Dame.
Competition is slated to get underway on Friday at 3:45 p.m. with qualifying rounds of the women's 60-meter hurdles. The first day of the two-day meet concludes at 6:00 p.m. with the men's 6000 meters before picking back up for day two on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. on the field and 12 p.m. on the track.

LAST TIME OUT
The University of North Carolina track & field program wrapped up day two of the Virginia Tech Invitational Saturday at Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Va. The final day of the two-day meet saw four Tar Heels in competition highlighted by a women's high jump victory by Sydney Banks.
Banks, a freshman from Woodbridge, Va., won her second-consecutive high jump competition by clearing a height of 5-8 (1.73 meters). Banks entered the weekend ranked third in the ACC as well as in the top 30 nationally in the event on the season.
Other Tar Heel Competitors:
• Matthew Harris and Isa Paschall competed in the men's long jump. Harris, a freshman from McDonough, Ga., took fourth in the event with a mark of 23-10.75 (7.28m) while Paschall, a fifth year from Harrisburg, Pa., took sixth, jumping 23-3.25 (7.09m). Harris also competed in the 200-meter dash finishing with a time of 22.59 seconds.
• Ben Finger, a freshman from Dallas, N.C., competed in the men's pole vault, clearing a height of 15-3.75 (4.67m).
• In competition Friday for Carolina, Jaren Holmes, a freshman from Fredericksburg, Va., set a new personal record in the men's triple jump with a mark of 50-5.25 (15.37 meters).
• Emerson Porter, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., matched her indoor personal record in the women's pole vault with a season-best mark of 13-0.75 (3.98 meters).
• Michael Spragley and Dalton McGlamery ran season-best times in the men's mile finishing in 4:19.29 and 4:24.59, respectively.
• Brandon Tubby, Alex Milligan and Jesse Hunt competed in the men's 1,000 meters. The trio finished fifth, seventh and 11th in the event with times of 2:24.99, 2:25.37 and 2:26.27, respectively.
IN THE RANKINGS
North Carolina currently holds nine top-five times/marks in the ACC as well as 11 top-50 times/marks nationally. Two Tar Heel individuals currently hold top-16 times/marks in the NCAA. Daniel McArthur ranks third in the men's shot put with his school-record mark of 66-9.25 (20.35m) and Isaiah Palmer ranks 16th in the men's 400 meters with a time of 47.15. Carolina also holds the 16th best time nationally in the women's distance medley relay in which a team of Mady Clahane, Maiah Walker, Erin Edmundson and Emmeline Fisher combined for a time of 11:44.37.
