Buckner Named ACC Freshman of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Helping the Tar Heels to a pair of wins over Virginia, Aziah Buckner has been named the ACC Freshman of the Week as announced Tuesday morning by the conference office.
Starting both matches as a six-rotation hitter, freshman Buckner averaged 3.43 kills per set and 2.86 digs per set. Buckner totaled 24 kills, hitting .340 with a mere six errors in eight sets. The Memphis, Tennessee native collected 20 digs with eight blocks and two aces. Buckner began the weekend with her second career double-double with 10 kills on 20 swings with a career-best, 13 digs. She followed suit with 14 kills, seven digs and another ace on Sunday to wrap up the weekend.
NC State's Jade Parchment was named the ACC Player of the Week.
The Tar Heels resume the 2020-21 season in the spring semester.
