Carolina Notes
• Carolina is 3-0 (2-0 at neutral site and 1-0 at home).
• The Tar Heels are now 22-3 in the Maui Invitational.
• Carolina has reached the finals of the Maui Invitational for the seventh time in eight appearances (lost in 1989-90 to Missouri, lost in 1995-96 to Villanova, beat Purdue in 1999-2000, beat Iowa in 2004-05, beat Notre Dame in 2008-09 and beat Wisconsin in 2016-17).
• UNC had lost its last 18 games when scoring under 70 points. The previous win with less than 70 points was a 69-68 victory on Jan. 13, 2018 at Notre Dame.
• Carolina had 24 turnovers, which equal the sixth most in any game under Roy Williams. The last time UNC won with at least this many turnovers was March 23, 2012, when UNC committed 24 turnovers in an overtime win over Ohio University in the 2012 NCAA Sweet 16.
• Carolina trailed at the half for the first time this year (Stanford led, 33-29).
• Five Tar Heels (the five starters) scored in double figures for the first time this season (Caleb Love 16, RJ Davis 11 and Armando Bacot, Garrison Brooks and Leaky Black 10 apiece).
• Freshman center Day'Ron Sharpe led UNC in assists with four.
• Carolina is 4-0 all-time in Asheville.
• Carolina had 15 offensive rebounds, two less than Stanford had defensive. For the two games in Asheville the Tar Heels have 34 offensive rebounds to the opponents' 38 defensive; for the season, UNC has 51 offensive compared to the opposition's 64 defensive.
• Carolina held Stanford to 10 of 30 from the floor in the second half (.333). For the season, the opponents have made 27 of 95 shots from the floor in the second half (.284).
• A freshman guard has led UNC in scoring in each of the first three games (Love vs. Charleston and Stanford; Davis vs. UNLV).
