Carolina Notes
• UNC lost for the second game in a row.
• 3-2 overall (1-0 at home, 0-1 on the road, 2-1 at neutral sites).
• Scored a season-high 80 points and shot a season-high 47.7 percent from the floor.
• Iowa's 93 points and 44.7 percent shooting from the floor were season-highs by an opponent.
• Iowa made 17 of 40 from three-point range, including 11 of 22 in the first half.
• Iowa's 17 threes are the most by an opponent since Auburn made 17 in the 2019 NCAA Sweet 16.
• The 17 threes equal the third most ever against the Tar Heels.
• The 40 three-point attempts equal the third most by an opponent in the Roy Williams era and equal the sixth most in any game.
• Three Iowa players made five or more threes (seven by Jordan Bohannon and five by both CJ Fredrick and Joe Wieskamp). The last time TWO opponents made five threes in a game was William & Mary in the 2010 NIT.
• Iowa scored 33 of its 43 points in the first half on three-pointers.
• It was the second game in a row the Tar Heels trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half and by 12 at the break, but took the lead in the second half.
• Carolina led twice – at 66-65 (on a pair of RJ Davis free throws) and 68-67 (on a layup by Andrew Platek).
• Carolina was 13 for 20 from the floor (65 percent) in the first 10:30 of the second half when it out-scored Iowa, 37-24, to lead 68-67. The Tar Heels then made 5 of 13 field goal attempts and 4 of 9 from the free throw line over the final 9:30.
• Carolina shot a season-high 40 percent from three-point range (6 of 15).
• UNC had a season-high 22 assists, 10 more than its previous high in a game this season (12 vs. Charleston).
• Carolina is 10-12 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, including three straight losses.
• Three Iowa players made five or more threes (seven by Jordan Bohannon and five by both CJ Fredrick and Joe Wieskamp).Â
• It was the first time in UNC history three opponent players made five or more threes in a game (it was the 19th time an opponent made 15 or more threes in a game). The last time even two opponents made five threes in a game was William & Mary in the 2010 NIT.Â
Player Notes
• Garrison Brooks (17 points) led UNC in scoring for the second straight game.
• Armando Bacot had a team-high 11 rebounds, his second consecutive game with double-figure rebounds (12 vs. Texas).
• Andrew Platek scored 10 points. It's the second time in five games this season he has scored in double figures (he did that twice in his first three seasons as a Tar Heel).
• Day'Ron Sharpe made 5 of 6 field goal attempts for a season-high tying 13 points and had six rebounds and two steals in just 14 minutes.Â
• RJ Davis had eight assists, most by any Tar Heel this season, and scored 12 points. He is the only Tar Heel to score in double figures in all five games.
• Caleb Love had a season-high six assists and scored 11 points.
• Leaky Black grabbed nine rebounds – he has 36 in the last four games (9.0 per).
• UNC scored 24 fastbreak points. It came into the game averaging 9.0 fastbreak points and had not scored more than 11 in a game this season.
• Iowa's 23 points off turnovers and 21 second-chance points were both season highs against the Tar Heels.Â
