In the month since Carolina beat North Carolina State on January 27 in Raleigh, much has remained the same since the last Know Your Opponent look at the Wolfpack. State is still talented and dangerous.
NCSU has 3-4 in the last month against tough competition, dropping two spots from No. 48 to No. 50 in the KenPom team rankings. It enters Tuesday night's game in Chapel Hill with a 17-10 overall record, 8-8 in the ACC.
State has posted some key wins this month that put them in recent early NCAA Tournament discussion, including blasting Duke last Wednesday night in Raleigh, 88-66, and winning, 79-74, at Syracuse.
Head coach Kevin Keatts' bunch (45-25 in his third season since moving to Raleigh from UNCW after the 2017 season) also played well before dropping a six-point home decision to No. 8 Florida State last Saturday.
In the win over the Blue Devils last week, NCSU's veteran trio of Markell Johnson (a career-high 28 points), Devon Daniels (a career-high 25) and D.J. Funderburk (21 points and nine rebounds) outscored Duke by themselves, combining for 74 of the Pack's 88 points.
Johnson is second in the ACC in assists and third in steals and has scored in double figures in 18 of the last 22 contests. He posted a triple-double against The Citadel in December and ranks fourth in school history with 558 career assists.
Funderburk has been at his best since he moved into the starting lineup at midseason, leading the team in scoring in seven of the last 14 games and in rebounding in seven of the last 13. He's shooting 60 percent from the floor this season.
Daniels has scored in double figures in 10 of the last 11 outings, following his career-best 25 points against Duke with 18 points and nine rebounds against FSU on Saturday.
