#1 Carolina Rallies For 6-1 Win At #14 Wake

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 1 North Carolina women's tennis team found itself trailing for the time this season after doubles play, but rallied by winning all six singles matches to secure a 6-1 victory at No. 14 Wake Forest on Sunday afternoon.
North Carolina improves to 18-0 overall and 6-0 against the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Demon Deacons slip to 9-4, 1-3.
The Tar Heels gave away the doubles point for the first time in 2020. After a 6-0 court-one victory by No. 4 Sara Daavettila and Alexa Graham, the Demon Deacons rallied very well with consecutive wins on the remaining two courts to grab the early 1-0 lead.
Daavettila quickly knotted the match at 1-all with a 6-4, 6-1, win over No. 100 Eliza Omirou, on court two. The win marks the 127th singles victory of Daavettila's career, tying her for fourth in program history with Jessie Aney and Caroline Price.
Sophomore No. 6 Cameron Morra gave UNC its first lead of the afternoon by virtue of a 6-4, 6-2, win over Anna Campana on court three.
Soon after, freshman Anika Yarlaggada added to Carolina's lead with a victory on court six, 6-4, 6-4, and junior No. 51 Alle Sanford won the clincher on court five, 7-5, 6-4.
Seniors No. 52 Makenna Jones and No. 3 Graham tacked on three-set wins to round out the day. Jones earned her 99th career win, while Graham notched No. 130.
Carolina will have an extended break before returning to the courts against Boston College on Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m.
