Lucas: Day 3 Point Guard Fan Favorite Voting

Some tough decisions in the next round of point guard fan favorite voting.
By Adam Lucas
Today brings the quarterfinal round of voting in the Carolina point guard fan favorite bracket. We've reached the point where choices are very difficult to make, and remember, you can vote by going to the @UNC_Basketball Twitter feed or the @UNC_Basketball Instagram story.
Phil Ford vs. Joel Berry II
Berry is a tremendous leader, the 2017 Final Four Most Outstanding Player, and a national champion. A certain generation will tell you that Ford is the greatest player in Carolina history.
Raymond Felton vs. Ed Cota
Felton was a key recruit in the early 2000's and it paid off, as he directed the Tar Heels to the 2005 national title. This matchup on the court would have been fascinating to watch, as Felton's fire was in contrast to Easy Ed's on-court demeanor. But Cota just might be the best passer in Carolina history.
Kenny Smith vs. Marcus Paige
The generation who knows Smith only as a TNT commentator missed out on Smith as one of the best point guards in Tar Heel basketball history. The only weakness on his resume is the lack of a Final Four (Smith's injury in 1984 might have cost that team a title), which Paige--one of the best big shot makers of the Williams era--got in 2016.
Ty Lawson vs. Kendall Marshall
Do you want a scorer or a passer? Lawson's breakneck pace and dynamic scoring ability was part of his sensational junior season that led to a Tar Heel national title. Marshall's injury in 2012 might have cost that group a similar title, as his incredible passing was irreplaceable for that talented group.
