Navy And Blue Play To A 3-3 Tie On Friday

Chapel Hill, NC -- The Blue and Navy squads fought to a 3-3 tie in a seven-inning scrimmage on a hot Friday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.
Casey Cook drove in a run with a single in the third inning to give Navy an early 1-0 lead. A Tomas Frick single up the middle put Navy up 2-0 in the fourth. Blue responded in the bottom of the inning when Patrick Alvarez scored on a fielder's choice with Danny Serretti at the plate.
Max Riemer's sacrifice fly to right in the top of the sixth put Navy up 3-1. Blue promptly tied the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the inning on Brandon Eike's two-run single.
Connor Bovair and Brandon Schaeffer were the two starting pitchers. Nik Pry, Gage Gillian and Davis Palermo threw in relief.
Will Stewart's triple and Mac Horvath's double were the only extra base hits. Each squad had seven base hits, with Navy committing one error and Blue two errors.
After taking Saturday off, the Heels will wrap up their fourth week of Fall scrimmages on Sunday.
NOTE: The new version of Trackman is now installed and working but a vendor issue prevented a box score from being generated. The issue is being worked on.
